Sovereignty of God

Sovereignty of God
Some people take up responsibilities and authority is given to them, while others are given authority to take up responsibilities.

Sometimes its not about how things happen, but what is the outcome of the situation ba. God works differently in everyone of our lives. Just like how we are all uniquely formed, God has a unique plan for every single one of us.

But very often because of the very different ways God works through us, people feels very insecure of what the future holds and wonders why do things not turn out the way they want it to, or how it has happened to someone they know or at least similar to the way it has always been happening. It always seems and feels like other people's path are easier than theirs, grass is greener on the other side.

No matter which way the Lord leads you to, you just got to be sure and know that you are in the will of God, doing according to His time can le. All things will work out good to those who love Him and are called according to his purpose. Isn't that what is more important then just doing what you want to be doing?

Recently have been talking to some people about doing greater things for the Lord and somehow feels that they all got the same mindset about having not done enough. hmm... i mean of course there will be some extremist who thinks that they have 'arrived', while some who feels that they can always do a bit more and people on the other extreme who always feels that they are not there yet.

Nothing wrong to want to do more for the Kingdom of God and glorifying Him la. but i guess whatever is taken to the extreme is imbalance ba. Whether is it to feel that you have 'arrived' or to feel that you are forever not there yet.

People who thinks that they have 'arrived' often get tricked by the devil into 'containment'. To think that they have achieve their goals in life, they are above all the rest, hence can now remain where they are. No longer need to do more, can be a 'mentor' over others, to 'teach' and 'direct' others. This will eventually cause the person to be stagnant in whatever the person is doing and cause a disillusion in them to think that they are the best, allowing no room for improvements and comments.

While people who always feels that they are not there yet, can easily fall into the trap of the devil to think that no matter what they do, they are never good enough or can never be where they want to be. To constantly be thinking that they are not there, or not anywhere will soon cause them to feel not appreciated for all that they have done and starts to compare themselves with the people around. 2 things can happen: 1) They start to think that they can never be as good as others no matter how they hard try, hence in the long run they might just give up once and for all. 2) They will start to feel that the people around are not as good as them but yet they are doing more, hence in the long run will cause bitterness and confusion to why they are not the one chosen to do something more for the Lord.

Like i say earlier, nothing wrong with wanting to do more but let's guard ourselves against the subtle thoughts from the devil that may lead to destruction. We need to be ASSURED of who we are in Christ Jesus and that we are in the will of God. Samuel was 8 when he was called, David was 12, Moses waited 40 years, Abraham was 99 and Noah waited 150 years. Everyone of us have our time to shine and we dun have to compare it with ANYONE ELSE cuz we all have a UNIQUE destiny in God, through a UNIQUE plan of God.

From the beginning

From The Beginning
When we were very much younger, we are not so good in many things. But yet in those times, though 'our pockets may be empty', skills may not be zai but our hearts are filled. Filled with passion, zeal and a desire to do something great in the kingdom of God.

Maybe it was easier for us to remain humble during those times because of our inadequacy and lack of knowledge. But as the times goes by, when we become more zai, have we lost the passion to be a servant? the kind of zeal to prepare and ensure that there is a standard of excellence in our service or ministry? have our skills and knowledge about the 'know-how' caused us to puff up with pride, that we no longer heed advises; tinks that we are way above the rest; and can put other people down? have we forgot how we all started off, elevated ourselves above others and have challenged the higher authorities?

One thing we all need to realize is that, we are not the main character in the story. God may use us greatly in the kingdom of God and have given us certain responsibilities, authority and privileges above others but that is for us to SERVE more and shine FOR HIM, and not for our personal glory or fame.

John, the baptism, was someone who knew his position and who is he in the kingdom of God. He knew that he is never the main character, he was there to prepare the way for Him who is to come. When Jesus came and the disciples turned and followed Jesus, John was not anxious, jealous or prideful, thinking that he is more experienced. Because John did such a good job in preparing the way, speaking the truth, many believed in Jesus went He visited Jordan even after the dead of John.

Just like John, we are called to go and prepare the way. So what is our position? TO PREPARE THE WAY! We are never the main character because God is. No matter what ministry we are serving in, we are to prepare the way. Example:

Song leaders, choir, muzos and CG leaders, when leading praise and worship, the main focus should always be ushering in the presence of God. So when the presence of God is there, we need to learn to flow and allow God to move in the midst and touch the people instead of talking non stop. We need to learn to decrease so that God can increase.

Even ministries like the technical crew, lighting, video and photography, it is not just about going through the technical things behind the stage. But flowing with the anointing and the Holy Spirit to give shoots that will captivate the hearts of the people, showing what the Lord is doing in the midst of the service.

Ushers, bookstore, greeters etc are people who are at the front line. People gets their first impression of the church by either receiving a smile or seeing some people who had their face soaked in sour prickle juice that morning that turns them off.

Everyone of us plays a very important role in allow the Lord to move in the midst of a meeting. We are to PREPARE THE WAY. Until we know that that is our focus and God is the main character, we will stop being bothered by whether we are better than others; what is other people's calling; whether we got a certain position or post etc.  Because we will know that we have our destiny in God, just where we are. The level of our excellence will not be determined by our moods. Instead, just like how we have started, we will serve with the passion, zeal and all we want is to do more and with the spirit of excellence to GLORIFY GOD.
